AAM Monday: Project Life Weeks 11 and 12

Life is a medical story round here and that has been the focus in the past two weeks. All that stuff was looming in March but we were still looking for answers. Some things got done but but mostly it was just nice to see the signs of spring.  We thought we were getting our solar panels but were stumped with a safety issue. Lots of things to require patience these two weeks. But it was a lot of fun to use spring colors on these pages. Find joy where you can.

There were signs of spring with the chives on their way back and the installation of the a/c units before the Maryland heat hits us. Plus I had some of the endless clearing up.

AAM Monday: Project Life Week 14

At last it came. Easter, April Fools, the signs of Spring. While the week was not as warm as many Marylanders hoped it will be, it was perfect for the beautiful flowers and food of the new season. It was a simple week and so nice to have them. Now the month is ending but week 14 was the start of a new season for sure.

AAM Monday: Project Life Weeks 10 & 11

So ready to scrap April but the prior months had to have their turn. Winter kept hanging on with bits to say...ha! you think Spring really comes on March21???  Mother Nature keeps laughing but in truth this kind of chilly weather keeps the spring bulbs blooming and makes me happy.

Project Life Continues: Week 19

I got myself on a roll last week and got caught up. Well not including week 21 and this being week 22.  I could have done 21 yesterday but it was a holiday. (As if a holiday makes much difference when you're retired!)  A friend also has some serious issues going on in her life and that occupied my mind a bit. In any case here's week 19.

I decided to keep May with a lot of blue, this week with pink to show that spring really arrived. Maybe I'll have blue and yellow colors for the Navy graduation last week. We'll see but soon we'll be half done with the year. How time does fly!

AAM Monday: Project Life Week 16

I've been happily using a lot of peachy colors for the weeks of April as we have had a real spring. Cool cool temperatures that allowed the spring flowers to come into their own. That's not a given round here in springtime. More often than not we have hotter temperatures by now. I'll take this coolness!

Green Grow the Fields

In the months making my drive across the bay and into the Eastern Shore, I have loved seeing nature change through the many farmed fields I pass. When I first went, the corn was still there and but nearing harvest. I believe much of it may be animal corn as opposed to the corn we humans relish so much. Not sure but I'll have to enquire as this year progresses.

Later in the fall, the fields were cut and went into a dormant stage for the winter. Some had been cleared and some still had the corn stalk stubble. It was a peaceful sight under a lot of gray autumn and winter skies.

Last week I saw this! It was still an overcast sky with threatening rain, but the green! Oh the green!

Spring has definitely come to the shore. It has also come on the western shore but these vast fields or green made my heart sing. The lovely time between the bitter cold of our recent winter and the hot, humid summer that we usually have. Carpe diem!

Five on Friday: April 5, 2013

It's been a bit of a hectic day in our home. The long awaited installation of the shelves to raise the washer and dryer is almost happening. Lots of noise chez nous. Drilling kind of noise.

1. Patience with workers in my home is not a given. I may have gratitude but I am short on patience. Just get it done and stop chattering.

2. Today was a pedicure day, going from deep blood red to a bright red. I was sorely tempted to consider a gel manicure. I really haven't had many manicures since my years in Thailand...the mid 70s...and I apparently have no ability to keep polish unchipped for more than a day or two nor to do it myself. But $32 for a two week guarantee? I think I may stick to the buffing cube.

3. My middle child is moving the week from AZ to CA. He is the son who thought he was fairly apolitical  til he moved to AZ. I'm so glad he's out of the place where they think it's a good idea to 'put the panic back in Hispanic.'  Dear God almighty. Do they ever wonder..WWJD?

4.  I was thinking this week of an old practice that my mother taught me. If you still use bars of soap, buy a couple when on sale, and take them out of the wrapper. Put the bars in a drawer of clothes to scent or out in the open in a basket in the bathroom, but more importantly, to dry out. A month or two is good but even longer is better. Dried out, a bar of soap lasts a long time  If you have children using bars of soap you'll know how fast one can get used up. Dry your soap out and watch it last longer.

5. The vivid yellow of forsythia and daffodils looks so very good in my yard. It could look a lot better if the beds were weeded and mulched but I'll take what I have and enjoy the color contrast as it is.

new to Easter routine

The tiny one doesn't belong to me but she was just catching on to what an Easter egg hunt meant. So sweet... Don't you just love those tights?
