That was a good week with the arrival of 'the chef' aka my son Iain and his fiancee Stephanie from Southern California.

Five on Friday: March 25, 2016

1. It's that time of year when the weather forecast say 70° and yet it's still pretty chilly inside the house. So, no it's not iced coffee time yet round here. All decaf and made at home in this old $1. cup.

2. Now that Downton Abbey is finished, I have adjusted my record options with our tv. But darn that CBS. I don't usually set Madame Secretary to record since 60Minutes tends to run over time and it screws with the recording. However, trying to watch Madame Secretary on demand is not as easy as on other channels. There is a 24 hour window of availability or else they want you to pay.  Do Not Like. :(

3. Have you ever done a screencast?  Someone asked online and this tutorial makes it seem quite simple.

4. We had a 'boys night in' posole dinner last night and while 8 is a good number it's not a great seating arrangement for our table. I may have to do some furniture fiddling next time.

5.  When I came home last night after that dinner (I cook and leave. They eat.) I found leftover eclairs! omg. I had a half of one but they are calling to me....

Five on Friday: March 18, 2016

This week felt like spring despite the craziness going around in the world and with various families. I think it's in the collective consciousness so it behooves each of us not to add to that negative energy.

1. My lovely granddaughter has made it to London and yes, has her Liverpool hat on!! That's my girl!

2. I believe I have finally washed all the winter bedding that is washable and aired the down comforters.  However, I know from past experience that as soon as we turn our gas fireplaces off, we are bound to get one day or evening that I wish we had the pilots still lit!

3. Orange season is just about over except for some lingering CaraCara and Halo oranges. I've just about switched to strawberries but this seems to be that time betwixt winter's citrus and summer's Peaches. I do hope we get a good crop this year and wish the farmers' the best.

4.I've been thinking of making this chocolate peanut butter pie for himself for Easter. Can we avoid a ham that way???

Put a bunch of little blue chalet eggs around the outside? which means I better get the supplies tomorrow!

5. While the lad was in Florida this week, I did get a lot of shifting around. Tomorrow also means a trip to the charity shop to clear out a huge load of things. Please no rain on Saturday!!

Have a great weekend and hopefully we really won't get more than a sprinkling of snow on Sunday!

Project Life isn't done because I had a great visit with my west coast son and his fiancee.  A very good time and a productive time for them with some decisions made.

Five on Friday: March 11, 2016

It has really felt almost, almost like time to get those a/cs in before we get hit with a hot streak. This is so like March round here. Will we have the requisite cold snap before April?

1. Isn't this drink calling to you? It was to me so I made it as did Shutterbean. I'm ready for my iced coffee routine already but this is a good alternate. Probably not as a cold drink though. That's when lassis and iced tea come into their own. But geeze, it isn't even officially spring yet so I'm still drinking hot drinks!

2. What's my go to snack right now? theose darling little CaraCara oranges. Not too big and still with great juiciness.


3. I saw a cute scrapbook page and was taken by the stickpin yellow heart. I decided to make my own as I feel I smelled a stink bug in the house again. Yuck.

4.Across the street, a building is back in its renovation. It had been going on for a while, then got a stop-work order and is now back on track.  It seems that almost every day one of these is filled and replaced. I looked the other day and it's down to the studs. You have to wonder what is left to take out?

5.Bicycle boy should be in Florida by the time you read this. Here's to a good week of beach bicycling for him!

When we occasionally look at our Spain and Portugal trip, we say....Why haven't we gone back?  It always sounds good - except for the late dinners. I think we should make this one a future priority, especially with the easy airbnb way to stay.

A day when I stayed in Frankfurt and he went off to Heidelberg. Both worth seeing.

AAM Monday: Project Life Week 9

Week 9 was rather bookended with meals out. After a visit to VA, I stopped at one of my faves, Taco Bamba in Falls Church.Oh yeah. I was also really fortunate to get in and order my food between surges of the normal crowds.

Later in the week it was a lunch downtown Annapolis with friends. We have to do this more often!

And keeping myself hydrated, I finish the last drop of my tea and test out another selfie method. More on that later.

TBT: Vancouver 2002

Well, he says if Trump is elected he's ready to move to Vancouver.  I'm wondering if we could afford it and leave the lunatic to run the asylum.
