An early wakeup at our hotel and it was time to get on the bus to the airport. Breakfast boxes for the tip or the plane and a las look at Budapest at night. Leaves falling. Winter coming.  The end of a long but interesting trip. It was the ideal time for a trip like this.

Our afternoon at the artist village did give me a chance to have a cup of tea that gave me enough caffeine to have energy for the evening. The walk really helped too. I loved the music and dancing which took me back to things I heard as a child. It was a nice note to end on.

Travel With Me Tuesday: Hello Budapest!

The winter light upon arrival in Budapest was exquisite. Our ship took it's time meandering down the Danube to our dock in the city. As the Danube bisects Buda from Pest, the docks are central to most of the city. We would be getting off the ship for an extension and the other passengers would be leaving to fly home. But this night would be a 'pack your bags' for everyone.

Travel With Me Tuesday: Farewell to Vienna

Somehow I didn't get as much done or seen as I'd have liked in Vienna but I think that was due to these days being at the end of two weeks rather than at the beginning. I find that about 10 days is enough for me for a vacation and then I tend to want it over. I miss my home and bed and less scheduled days. I believe he feels otherwise. It's a marriage compromise.

It was quite a treat to be back in Vienna, a truly cosmopolitan city. The smaller towns were lovely in their own right but give me a major city any day.

November 13, 2012 was a very November day with heavy mist. Not good for the lungs but the kind of weather I like.

All in all a very full day in Durnstein. Full of activity and full of food.

Finishing up the day in Passau for me, it was a town I liked a lot.

I wonder what it is like now after those terrible floods. Is the river as high as it was in these earlier images or has it flooded again and I just missed the story...

One  day I will find out why some of the German cities are 'burgs' and some of them are 'bergs'. I think I got them right on these pages but after so many I've started to doubt my spellings.

Then we were on to Passau.  A nice walk about city that I was up for after a day's rest on board - a small quiet place that was rather captivating.
