Travel With Me Tuesday: Regensburg and Passau-1

One  day I will find out why some of the German cities are 'burgs' and some of them are 'bergs'. I think I got them right on these pages but after so many I've started to doubt my spellings.

Then we were on to Passau.  A nice walk about city that I was up for after a day's rest on board - a small quiet place that was rather captivating.

Travel With Me Tuesday: Regensburg

Back to this travelog, so far back in my mind but actually it was November 2012.  Veterans Day for us in Regensburg Germany.

Regensburg was a rainy day and one that was half spent on the water going through lock after lock til we arrived at the city after lunch.  All the cities are beautiful and yet after a point, it becomes like a wonderful museum. You just can't appreciate another painting.

Various apartments along the water - do we look at them or do they look at the boats more?

Despite our moving boat, the water remained still enough for some good reflections.

There were also the occasional glimpses of color in the leaves. But it was mostly a sleepy quiet day. We also had a briefing on the post cruise extension in Budapest. We had visited Budapest in 2008 and it would be interesting to see how much it had changed.

But at noon it was lunch time. Schweinbraten with potatoes and carrots. There was no shortage of pork on this trip and it was always good

Sometimes a big meal was too much, though the Croque Monsieur wasn't really much lighter.

I always tried to save room for dessert. This was a Peach Polenta upside down Cake with mint ice cream.  Cake for me and the ice cream mostly for him. I'm no mint lover.

Do you wonder why we decided just to take a day off from sightseeing and rest up for ...dinner???
