AAM Monday: Project Life Week 41

There is a always a strange feeling as the weeks are in the 40s. For me it's a very visible sign that the year is drawing down. Sometimes the weather has to take its time to catch up with the calendar but the numbers tell the story. It makes me want to do a lot of tidying up with my digital play, another  kind of 'putting the garden to bed' which is something I rarely get to these days. Not much of a garden  either. Oh well, priorities shift.

I also found that I mixed up some of the photos for week 41 and 42. At some point I'll need to go back and fix week 41 but lets's just say I'm not so keen to do that. But it is on my mind!

Just a Pretty

I rarely do this kind of layout but it was for a challenge with all the 9 steps set out and so I used some of Rebecca McMeen's ladies. I don't have a lot of these pretties but this color combo just called to me.

Project Life Weeks 39 and 40

When my husband is away and then returns, I often lose track of posting on my blog. So it's not Monday and it's not one week, it's two. Hope you enjoy a chance to get a little look into my life.

TBT: Oh That Fisherman!

I didn't know him then, and don't think much of the outfit or the beard. But look at those pockets. That is definitely my engineer - pens and who knows what else in the pockets. 37 years later and he still gets ink stains in his pockets. Since 1980, a lot of other things have changed but yep, that's my fisherman.

Travel With Me Tuesday: The Sun Sets On the Thames

Sunset this Sunday in London was absolutely perfect. The Golden Hour before the sun set bathed so many of the building in a warm pinkish gold. I could have stayed there longer but he was tired and wanted to go back to our flat. Of course he had been up earlier than I had and had had his own morning jaunt. Days with light like this make up for a lot of the darker grey days. Probably.

By the time we got out of the tube at our station, Russel Square, the sun had set and night was upon us. But I did take time to take a shot of our building as people scurried to get home and back into the warm. I took my time and plodded up the steps to our flat but...I did get my photo first!

AAM Monday: Project Life Week 38

There was one of the last picnics of the year just as fall officially started. It may have been official but the temperatures still said summer was hanging on. Actually sitting outside in the shade at the State House one day was just plain delightful.

AAM Monday: Project Life Week 37

September was winding down here and the plaid paper background made me think of dresses we wore in the first month of September back when I was a teen. Shirtwaist dresses of cotton for the still hot days and when it was time for shorts and blouses,  we had as much madras plaid as we could afford. Madras fabric still bled a lot back then so it was hand wash for those items. But there really was nothing quite as cooling as those items made of that very absorbent cotton. I don't imagine they still make any non-polyester enhanced madras fabric these days. A pity.

TBT: Who Are These People?

In doing anther round of getting rid of paper clutter, I found this photo. Who are these people?

I will guess that it is in the 80s from the hairstyle of the woman. I also think it is a family gathering, grandfather on the far left and his daughter, her husband and their two sons. The woman and the two boys have that same jutting jaw which the mustached man does not have.

Is it that jawline that makes most of them look less than happy or is that the mood? I don't know who they are nor where this photo was taken and there are no notes or dates on the back. Perhaps this was a command performance but in any case I hope their future years included more smiles.
