This layout was picked for a Gallery Stand Out last week! I loved going back over some older photos to scrap this page. Those were happy days for the grands. I'm glad someone else liked this page enough to pick it! 

A bit of funny stuff

This was the last of the challenge pages I made for March 2020 at the TheLilypad.

I really don't like a huge 'sunburst' of papers but this was the template given, so I had to think a good bit more on this one. Finally an idea came to me and the British Royal Family helped out. It also made me laugh that these tabloids still exist.

More of my layouts from challenges on The Lily Pad site. I like having them all listed in the Challenge forum at the beginning of the month so I can take my time and pick the ones that seem easiest to me. Later come the ones that are more challenging, either because they are too busy for my taste or with a subject matter that requires more thinking.

This was a photo from 5 years ago. Yes, she's changed a lot but always had that kind of look. Don't lose that spunk!

I don't often use pastels but this photo had such a burst of pink that I went with that.

And after this a nap

I had hoped to give you some more of my digital work yesterday, but a lot of life intervened and that included some people with serious issues. Fortunately for me, I was the listener most of the time. Did I get a boatload of gratitude for my life? oh you betcha.

So today, I'll give you some pretty or what I find pretty and then take a nap. Yesterday also included the last of Part 2 of the 2nd Shingles virus shots. I hope never to have that wretched stuff but yesterday and today have been what I call 'tylenol/zyretk' days. I've taken my temperature quite a few times just to be as sure as I can that it's not coronavirus. No fever, just aches especially on the arm that got the jab.

I'll also file my nails way down since I finally found a decent size of emery boards. Who knew they might be a scarce item these days?!??!



A lot of  my scrapping lately has involved this grandchild and/or the ongoing braces saga.



So often I say I want to try Travelers' Notebook pages or 8.5x11 so here I mixed both. Challenging for me to think in that perspective but fun.

Life does interfere with one's plans, doesn't it! But I did get my layouts done and today is #31 which is the Final One. No, it's not done yet but it's a serious journaling one that I have to think through. The words will come to me but it takes time and reflection.

Back Again with - Layouts!

A week with a holiday on Monday tends to throw me off. I don't know why. I'm retired so every day is kind of a holiday but last week seemed to be off in some ways. But moving on... here are a few more of my Month of Challenges layouts.

Keeping on Keeping on

More layouts day by day. That's the only way they can get done for me it seems. Many times, I've made more than one a day but - not when there are outside requirements to be completed. But that is why, as more of my fellow participants whine, that we are reminded it's a Month of CHALLENGES!
So here are some more that I made.

Day 15 Vellum



There are actually two vellum overlays here - the required one over the photo and the heart filled one over the wood paper.

I rarely use a dark background but each time I do, I remember how much I like this look.

I have several long stories I've written back when I took a memoir class. This is one of them so it was good to get it all put together for a printable page.

Busy Week and Still Lots Done

I'm very happy I have been able to keep up with The Month of Challenges at The Lilypad. Even though the actual scrap time is not that long, there is something about it hanging over my head that reminds me of why I considered not doing it this year. Other projects have been put on hold and I can see that I may have to adjust my art life somehow, someway. It's always finding balance.

I went Really? when I read this challenge of 20 goals. In the end, as always, once I started writing it was easy. I love this page!

Day 12 Filled Template



I have a few facial masks that I've never got around to using so when I saw myself as I was placing this one, I knew! This would be the one to use this 'busier than my norm' template.

Day 13 By the Numbers



My trip to Newfoundland in numbers was easy to do except I had forgotten the trick of always, always saving those small templates with new names. I ended up confusing myself a bit which can be frustrating when you're near the end.

Quite a challenge getting a photo that fit the silhouette requirement. No  one else in the house but me that day and it was miserable outside. But I did it! Gotta love that tree.

More to Look At

Having been gone over the weekend, a bunch of time here has been playing catch up. I don't like that feeling especially when I have other projects I want to get going. So let me show you some of last week's layouts.

A lot of emotion came out in this one with feelings of past and current times when I've felt overwhelmed. Sometimes that was a fact but sometimes it wasn't. That's a gift of art journaling.

Keeping at It - Thursday look

By looking at the challenge early in the morning, I can get an idea of what I want to do. Fortunately, most challenges are something I've done in the past. I may not love this one or that on but so far I haven't fainted or pulled my hair out when I've seen one and read the directions. That could still happen but right now I'm counting on 12 years of scrapbooking history to kick in.

Originally a color photo I took on one of those jammed full transatlantic flights. White haired man looks dubious about my taking this photo. No darlin', no harm was going to come to you.

Still at it

Some of the challenges for this MOC I don't like but I've done so many over the years I can often go back and get some inspiration of my own. Today you get to see some granddaughter stories. I really want a story on every page.

I was glad I had taken a good succession of photos of Lotus' haircut which were perfect for a challenge which required 10 frames. I also remembered I had done a similar layout for a day in Genoa back  in 2012.

I like this style of layout and the template was a freebie. Win win! and I only used one kit. Changing the saturation or depth of focus keeps it simple.

Yes, I've joined in - The Lilypad's MOC Month of Challenges

I waffled about this during the fall as I wasn't sure I wanted to make that commitment again, even for the $20 gift certificate for all those who complete the 31 challenges. But by the end of December I was willing to do it. Sometimes the challenge of the day leaves me with a layout I really don't like and sometimes dislike. So I'm in and taking the good with the not so good.

January 1

This challenge required a lot more product than I like on the page but I did like it even if our friend's last visit to LaScala wasn't a Christmas one. That dress called for a rich look!



January 2

My computer seemed to be a bit out of sorts and I couldn't find the kitchen photo I wanted so I made this one fairly simple and neutral. All in all I think I might go back and use that image in color not sepia. Also, who knows why the journaling split chocolate up... hmm (now corrrected)

Tuesday Challenges March 19, 2019

Some more layouts from March's challenges at The Lilypad.  It hasn't been my best month with a lot of energy expended on my dh's health issues but that's why I love making pages. The creative energy balances out a lot or at least some of the heavy mood in our house. March has been better than last month though! I'll take any bit of sunshine that I can.

The first one here is for a List Challenge with the 5 categories assigned. Pretty easy especially with using an old freebie template from Designer Digitals.

Second layout comes from having to show someTHING we love. Not a person or a pet. I really do love my set of laundry appliances. Really.

2019 MOC7 Days 1-3

A challenge a day for the whole month of January and this is the 7th year but only my 3rd. The camaraderie is the best plus you get 31 layouts and learn a bunch of skills. I'm in!

December 28 2018 - Finished Challenges

I really do enjoy doing some challenges from different scrapping websites. This December I only managed to do the ones from The-Lilypad but that's ok. There are 7 quick stories told and telling the story is my point. Next month I'll be doing the January MOC, Month of Challenges, at The-Lilypad which is a layout challenge for each day and it IS a challenge when you see some of the requirements. Definitely takes me out of my comfort zone but that's good. While I know my style now and know how I like pages to look, sometimes trying a new technique is fun! sometimes it's a lot of $^*#! kind of mumbling or even tears but I've done that month two times.

But this winds up December 2018 for me - plus the ongoing Project Life of course.  That wants finishing up so I can get into 2019 with it ready to go to the printer!! See you next year!
