Hello Again and Merry Christmas!

This end of year has been hectic but mostly in a good way. I've been committed to my scrapbooking and recording daily life. Here's some of my latest about a week in Boston this month!

Maybe I'll be able to stick with the blog once again.

Travel With Me Tuesday: AKA Project Life Week 48

Happy New Year to all! Glad to be as caught up as I am with the projects from 2018. It never all gets done by the first of the year but that's ok. As long as I'm only a week or two 'behind' I feel that I can go into 2019 with my feet on the ground and my mind clear enough. It helped that I didn't do a December Daily last year which makes me want to do it all the more this year. But back to 2018.

December arrived without snow but instead Boston greeted me with an absolute downpour. Later there was brisk weather as the city was lit up for Christmas and I had time with my son and my daughter in law. LOTS of walking which is always a good thing and gives me a bit of wiggle room for the food he makes me and what's ahead for Christmas.

My patient daughter in law took this photo of us on the T. Patient? because her husband, my son, will always try to give the middle finger to me, her, anyone. No, he isn't 14 but I have decided it comes from his father's genes not mine! even though his father would never do anything like this.

This layout was just earlier this year, but it still makes me happy. I'm happy that my son has married the woman that seems to be a really good match for him. I'm happy that she is adjusting to a New England cold now. And I'm happy that this iconic sign is still there. Hi there Citgo!  I first saw you over 20 years ago!

I always enjoy a winter, especially pre-Christmas, trip to Boston. Some think I'm crazy but I prefer cold to hot. Plus one of my sons and his wife now live in Boston so it would be my first visit to see them after their March marriage.  I'd looked forward to this for several month!

My first full day in Boston was April 11. Lots of shopping at the Haymarket for food for a week of breakfasts and some dinners. It's amazing what one can do with a microwave if one's creative. That market is only open on Friday and Saturday so I was glad I arrived in time to get some food bargains.

Somehow last week was full of activity for which I have little to show. However, I do have one page for my Boston trip done. That's a start at least. I hope to get the pages for that trip well under way this week so wish me luck or even better some productivity energy. I suspect I had a dose of spring fever as well as a good dusting of pollen.  Once again, Zyrtec is my friend.

Yes, this short week of pages from my February 2013 trip is done. I don't think I'll make another trip to Boston in 2014 for snow. Always good to skip a year!  We'll see if I go anywhere by myself or just enjoy the stay at home when he decides to go south with his bicycle.

And then I decided to miss The BIG Snow! Wise move but I know I would have stayed if I were younger. I like my creature comforts too much now.

Travel With Me Tuesday: Boston, yes Boston

This trip didn't involve a lot of exciting things to do or dinners out as there might have been if my dh had been on the trip with me. That was just fine. Sometimes I just need a trip where I can go at my own pace, have a good bit of silence AND alone time, and just do what ever I feel like anytime. No expectations, no explanations, no responsibilities. A day where I might spend a lot of the day in bed with tea and toast at regular intervals.

Being out in sleet after getting a very very strange SHORT haircut was not so much fun. I don't think I've ever had such a bad haircut but I have strong thick hair which grows quickly so... But my head was sure cold coming home on this day!

Well I wanted snow, and yes we got a good dusting. Cold? oh yes....

The skies stayed gray and by afternoon there was rain and sleet. Yes, it was yucky and I was so so glad to have a warm, cozy room to come back to.

My first day in Boston took me across the highway for my first sfogliatella of the trip. That's the pastry down in the bottom right corner. I adore these!

Every night when it got dark and cold, I had this spectacular view from my room. Love love loved it.

Travel With Me Tuesday - Back to Boston

I got bogged down with the images of Europe from our River Cruise so I decided to get going on my February week in Boston.

Ironically, my trip to Boston was so I could experience some really good snow. Naturally, it snowed the day I was leaving, and a good snowfall it was. Oh well, the ticket was booked as was my stay at Common House. I was going!

By the time we got up to BWI, the ground there was clear and the skies were sunny. Usually farther north has colder weather than we do in Annapolis but this day was the exception. No time to sit in those rockers...I got on the plane and left.

Five on Friday February 8, 2013

While it's a Friday, it seems almost like a Monday to me. Having been gone for a full 7 days, on my own with no restrictions on what I did or when I was to do it, I'm getting back in the groove with three projects to do today or tomorrow. There's mucho computer time ahead.

1. I am very very grateful that I got the last Southwest flight out of Boston. Sorry, historic blizzard. I'll watch you on tv, thank you very much. The sunsets I'll miss though.

2. There is nothing quite like being back on an iMac after days without a keyboard. iPads and iPhones are great but a thumb texter etc I'm not, and nothing beats my smokin' fast iMac.

3. Do you know how spoiled we Washingtonians or near to Washingtonians are? Virtually all our museums are free.  Making a decision to spend $13-17 dollars for an exhibit is hard for me to swallow. Fortunately, I found a Free Night at Boston's ICA.  It was also a nice walk on a winter night.

4. I didn't eat meat all week, and fish only once. For the most part, I could be a vegetarian. For the most part.

5. I found a lovely new crime series. Not as dark as the Scandinavian ones but with just enough of an unexpected brutal murder to startle me. Martin Walker's "Bruno" series. I recommend them. Start saving your money for a Bruno-inspired trip. Mr. Walker paints a lovely picture of Southwest France.
