Wordless Wednesday: Our Beautiful Boy

Flashback Friday
Lucky lucky me just won this calendar set over at Oscraps. Thank you Merkee for the gift!
Now, you may ask why this is FlashBACK Friday and not FlashFORWARD Friday with a 2012 calendar. Good question. The reason is that someone is going to get a calendar for Christmas with all photos of our late beloved cat Sebastian.
I have to flashback to his happy days. Ok, relatively happy days. He was a Siamese and they do tend to be pretty fussy. He made his preferences known, and I was not on that list. Ironically, he entered our lives as MY cat but from the git-go he was dh's cat. Not that dh was interested in being owned by this boy but Sebastian made it clear. He did not want my lap, he wanted dh's lap. I was relegated to litter box cleaner and periodic medicine giver. But give me the time of day??? Hardly. When I would go to pet him as he sat up on his window tree perch, he would let out a 'Ehhh' of disapproval, and turn his head away from me.
Nonetheless, I loved him dearly and was the one to help him go over the rainbow bridge. Well, Sebastian, you are going to be immortalized just a bit more. Enjoy!

Flahsback Friday 11 06 24
Ah...our deal old Sebastian. He almost never climbed up on the chair to sit, or at least the chairs at the table. I think some of the reason was that he instinctively knew he wasn't so good at jumping up any more and that he didn't have a lot of space to work with here. His favorites places were over near the Jotul, even when it wasn't on. I think he knew that was a source of heat and eventually, maybe in 6 months! it would come back on.
As much as I miss him, I don't miss the litter box or the need for a pet sitter every time we wanted to go somewhere. Dear little one, I hop you are happy on the other side. You were one special cat.

December Daily Dec 3
Not the best day of my life but a day that had to be. Our Siamese cat Sebastian was put to sleep. Somehow each December there is a bit of Real Life in addition to all the holiday happenings.

Reflection Time
I never did get around to that reflection for a Dishing the Week post. Ah such good intentions that fall by the wayside.
I did get all of my digital supplies transferred to a new EHD and that felt good. Most all of my photos are also on another EHD and that has freed up a good bit of space on ye old iMac. When going through some of them, I came across a bunch of photos that I thought I'd scrap. I am so glad to get that Hawaii album finished, tho not ready for Shutterfly yet, that I wanted a simple page. So with this iMac photo booth pic of me and Sebastian, I have this one.

Sweet Saturday
Last night was a great time with my Artist Way peeps where we altered books for an exhibit the Pratt Library is having. We enjoyed ourselves so much that no one, NO ONE, took pictures. That's a real first for our group. We do have a round 2 coming up to complete the books so maybe someone will stop making art to document the process. It certainly is a full moon week.
Today I have a whole week ahead of me - on my own. Despite forgetting my birthday ON the day, my dh had ordered my gift which arrived yesterday.

There is still a bit of fiddling to do to get the cable box and the dvd player in a different location but that'll happen. We aren't sure if we want to make/buy a platform to raise the tv up so that all the crapola can go underneath it. We'll see. I seriously want to do something about the stained glass window in the hallway which is directly opposite that tv wall. It appeals to everyone but me, mostly because it has always interfered with watching a tv in the daytime. Upscale problem, huh? So sometimes I prop a piece of cardboard up against it, and sometimes I just wait till it gets dark.
Maybe the Sebastian has a better idea about dealing with that afternoon sun.

Hazy Hot and Humid
Then add to that a potential thunderstorm. This is my least favorite kind of weather and I have no desire to leave the house again, no desire to go far from the blast of an air/conditioner but I must. The cat's drugs are ready and it looks as if it's up to me to go fetch them.
I have tomatoes to finish up for freezing, not canning on such a hot day and then I think it will be ice cream, popcorn and a video. All in all, I just plan to wait for this weather to pass and ride it out. Fall will be here eventually ...I pray. Thinking about Dulce de Leche ice cream. Oh yeah...

Twas a lazy Sunday
Clocks went forward and both of us slept in. We'd had a lovely visit across the Potomac with family Saturday night, and they fed us well. We saw all the grandchicks and thoroughly enjoyed a quiet evening with lots of catchup.
Today was a day with little to do and only a few things got done. There is little puritan work guilt in this household! Did you have a good weekend? I hope so.

Trying to get a good clean up done, and wrap up any undone projects. And Finally, the giveaway for this post.
This is a fascinating book and Sebastian will do the drawing on Friday October 31st, so we can try and get it in the mail on Saturday. If you commented on the earlier post, you're in but there's still time. Yes, I will send internationally. Thank you for enlarging my world!

CleverGirlGoesBlog says...
Having cats is kind of like having babies mixed with teenagers. They puke, you have to clean it. They poo, you have to clean it. You give orders, they ignore them. You set boundaries, they ignore them. You try to hid things from them (i.e. ribbon & plastic bags), they find them, eat them, and puke. You clean it. CleverGirl said it all.

This is ...my pet
This week's theme comes from Two Peas in a Pod.
In reality, this is the one who owns us, but if you have a pet you already know that. If you don't have a pet, then consider who owns who....carefully. This is Sebastian, our Lilacpoint Siamese. He's "mature", 16 I think.

He was one of a pair of brothers we got from a family who were giving the two away. the couple had had 3 boys in 5 yrs, and were expecting boy #4. The cats didn't stand a chance...tho the couple had doted on them for 5 years pre children.

The two boys were inseperable, i.e. Felix would not leave Sebastian alone, and was always grooming him and fussing over him. The vet told us Sebastian was a ...gasp!..poor groomer. Well, he might have been less than diligent about his grooming but it turned out he was diabetic. Sigh. Felix flew away to live with another catlover who was desperate for a cat, and we began the twice daily insulin shots.

He was not happy when we renovated the kitchen - 14 months of bedlam.

Sebastian has now 'outgrown' his diabetes, but I believe it was the energy work I did on him. Whatever, the shots are history, and he is a happily aging cat who tolerates me and loves my dh.
This is most of his life these days.He is happiest asleep on dh's lap while dh reads. Not a shabby way of life...
