Week 42 was the start of that time of year when the temperature is all over the board. It's chilly enough inside to wear socks and long sleeves but then when you finally go outside people are in shorts and t-shirts. The seasons are in a bit of a flux here. But in my mind, it's pumpkin time!

12 Days of Halloween - Day 10

I bet something else tasty would be good about now. Something healthy perhaps to get you ready for the candy fest to come? Well let's settle for a Pumpkin Risotto, comforting, and healthy if you don't eat the whole recipe. If you like risotto, like I like risotto, well that can be an issue.

The whole recipe with a lot of photo guides can be found at FX Cuisine. I am seriously going to see how I can adapt this to the Lorna Sass method of making risotto in a pressure cooker. Yes, I'm lazy.

12 Days of Halloween - Day 1
Day 1...Time to Get Beautiful with a holiday idea from Country Home magazine back in 2007.
Pumpkin Powered Mask
3 tsp canned pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling)
1/2 tsp honey
1/4 tsp milk
Apply the mixture to your face (as always avoid eye area) and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and apply moisturizer.
Personally, I don't see why you can't use fresh pumpkin mushed up for this. I suppose the original recipe was to help people use up dribbles and drabs of canned pumpkin after a pie is made. I say ...use some fresh pumpkin or squash if you have it cooked.
