Travel With Me Tuesday: Trudging Round Turin Day 3
I decided to make these pages as full photos and then a long journaler to tell the story. I like to do that once in a while and not worry about where on the page to put my journaling. A lot of this morning involved trying to find the Apple store and me also trying to find a place to sit down. My knee knew that this trip was not the best idea.

AAM Monday : The Knee Saga Starts
Now that I have a date for my knee surgery, I also have a long checklist of things "I" need to do and things others have to do for me. Mostly it's going smoothly as the system is in place and it's fairly standard. However... there are always glitches of some sort, some small and others that make my eyes widen while I think....WHAT????
My own GP's office called to say they had the paperwork for my surgery physical... total right knee replacement on Nov xyz and then a hip replacement on Jan xyz. EXCUSE ME?!?!?! I'm not having a hip replacement!!! Oh, says one of the truly wonderful referral specialists my GP has, I think you had better call the surgeon's office and get them to correct that. Yes, I really better, not that I have much intention of appearing for a 2nd surgery two months after the first. No, no thank you. A step at a time please. Thank goodness my GP's office caught that. I can just imagine what the cost of a 'no show' for surgery might be...
Otherwise, things are going well1

Five on Friday: January 31, 2014
Lord almighty, January is done. That was fast! A long trip like our California trip always gets me discombobulated in regard to time. It seemed like January only started when we got back which of course is far from the truth but my inner clock didn't buy it for a while.
And this cold! I am so done with it. Me and how many others? Mostly I can just stay inside and I do. Outdoors is so overrated right now.
1. While looking at Pinterest early this am, waiting for my space heater to get a-going, I saw a bunch of wind chimes, sadly many without directions. I'm not clueless but I prefer to know how. In any case wind chimes always take me back to the cheap old glass ones from China that used to be sold in the 5 & Dime stores. I wonder if they are still made anywhere. I loved that tinkly glass sound. Delicate.
2. I started making a red lentil soup earlier in the week. Many things got in the way and all I have are some partially cooked lentils. I wonder if I'm now making fermented lentil juice. Today is a day for a recipe search and get those babies into something. Something that included coconut milk cause I'm in a coconut mood. South Indian seems good.
3. My cortisone shot for the knee is now scheduled for Feb 10th. Thank you snowstorm for delaying that for a month. I also have to go about 20 miles to another office. Pffft. I gripe because yesterday my knee hurt a lot, and strangely the pain was on the outer side of the knee, not the usual inner side. Mysteries abound.
4. Sometimes I wonder how foolish I can still be. My ceiling fan which gets little use in the winter was appallingly dirty. The fan is over my computer, desk, and many other bits of clutter scattered hither and yon. My cleaning intentions have not come to fruition lately but one day I decided to use a little duster I got in the $ store. Well, even with the fan off, that gentle dragging across the blades gave me a dust shower over all. Yuck. Now I still have a 3/4 dirty fan and gray dust to deal with below.
5. Is this cute or what? I've marked my chargers with green nail polish but I think they are going to get an update.

AAM Monday -Them Bones, Them Bones
Well this Monday is starting off with a visit to the Doctor. I go quarterly to have the results of my bloodwork read. I can't say my diet has been that good over the past four months, nor has there been any exercise. Once my torn Achilles tendon healed, I was able to deal with my knee pain. That turned out to be a torn meniscus (what the heck was that I wondered?). It turns out to be the gel like substance that is between the bones in the knee.
Well mine is not between the bones, rather it has pushed out to the side and is torn in addition. Oh joy...This means I have bone hitting bone and sometimes that sure ain't fun. Cortisone shots have helped but the next option is knee surgery. I'm not anxious to go there but at the same time, while I am no great lover of exercise, I have to acknowledge I do feel better when I do exercise. Mostly when I'm done but I had come to the point of almost...almost...looking forward to it the mornings I went to the gym. You know the bennies...increased energy, a feeling of accomplishment, a steadying of the scale numbers, fewer food cravings. Sigh. I once had those but then even walking much started to hurt.
Well, today my doctor and I will have our periodic chat. She is one to say...Well, Maureen...do you think you could try x, y or z??? in a kind, Quaker type of voice. I mentally roll my eyes, and mostly say yes. I don't know what today will bring but I'll try to say yes.
