Travel With Me Tuesday: The CA Trip is a Wrap!!

The final pages of 2015 and a bit into 2016. All are going into the 2015 album cause that's how I feel the year ended. Coming home to MD was really the start of the New Year for me.

I am quite happy with using the Lightroom Templates but just as happy with the Project Life app that I used on the Weekly pages in yesterday's post. Good to have choices!

Travel With Me Tuesday - Hello California

These pages were done via Lightroom Templates and will be very simple. I just wanted to get these photos done and on their way to the printer.  Page 1 gives you an idea of the amount of embellishment I'm going to add.The white places show where either journaling will go or a card/embellishment. I'm still learning how to work with these templates so it's a work in progress!

I wasn't even interested in doing a lot of work with the photos IN Lightroom because many of the days were overcast or rainy and I felt pretty darn sick myself. That's just how it goes sometimes.

AAM Monday: 2014 Project Life Begins

Since we were in California for the beginning of January 2014, these weeks are not all the standard format. That's fine. As always, NO rules in Project Life. I have noticed that a lot of digital people are cutting back on the amount of product they are using in their weekly pages. That's also fine with me. I know Creative Team members are tasked with selling products but I have a goodly stash and that's what I'm trying to use.

Hello California!

Page 2 is not here because it's private but our three day retreat was wonderful. Gotta love the locations the Jesuits have in California. Well, the locations they've had most anywhere in the US are prime. They certainly had an eye for real estate when they arrived in the 1600s or so. Location, location, location.

Next we drove down the California coast, but NOT on US 1. I knew I would be freaking out as the passenger seat is on the outside for the drive south. I've done it driving north and even that gave me the heebie jeebies as my then driver/husband kept saying ....Oh look! and I had visions of ending my life as the car went into the Pacific.  I do hope to make that drive again though but definitely going north.

We still saw a lot of great stuff on our two day drive to LA. When we have no time constraints, there's no need to rush the trip.

To me, LA means food and seeing friends/family.  We have a good friend in LA who is now facing the onset of alzheimers/dementia. It's sad but it's part of life. Learning to deal with all these losses.
I do love LA!

Flashback Friday: No I Didn't Eat Them

But I was tempted to buy one! Or maybe two, one for LaJolla and one for San Diego.

Travel West, then Westward Some More

These have been two hectic weeks, going from Maryland to New Mexico to Arizona, then back to Maryland. Just enough I like to say to read a few newspapers and do about 3 or 4 batches of laundry. Try to connect with a bit of our regular life and then get back on an airplane.

This time to Los Angeles with a flying trip down to San Diego and back. It could have been an easier trip to San Diego but the freeways were pretty jammed and this lead to a lot of herky jerky driving. The driver got cranky and the two passengers were not so amused either. However, on this short trip our grandson saw the colleges he wanted to see, and having seen them is pretty sure he is not a SoCal man. It's good to see and feel the vibe of an area and know that while it's nice for a visit, it's not what you want for four years or a lifetime.

My one friend said that the East Coast has a lot of granite in it's makeup. In the soil, and in the makeup of people. CA's land is shifting constantly and that is reflected in the easier way of life. Sometimes you just need to know what fits you.

We two grandparents and one grandson agreed....it's a beautiful place to visit (despite the record breaking temperatures we had over the weekend) but in reality, it's not really us. East Coasters? yep that's us. But we did have some fun in the California sun!

Not the greatest of photos with my iPhone but definitely some great memories for me.

One of the most beautiful places in the United States I think. I'm glad to have a chance to share this one with a special grandson pretty soon.  No one can quite prepare you for the Pacific.

Hello LA, Hello MD

Well, it's only gonna be a brief Goodbye San Francisco, Hello LA today. Then we settle in for the day's flight east. The whole day. But tonight I sleep in my own bed, and as nice as that is, I sure will miss the pillow top mattress and the 5 or so pillows of my own here in San Francisco.

I suspect my knees will be happy to get back to flatland as well. They have been speaking to me every day especially after some of the steep downhill walks. Good for the heart, good for the waistline but oh the knees weren't happy.

So very vintage 70s. On our way from MD to CA, we stopped to take this desert picture of my two sons with a Joshua Tree. From CA we would fly to Bangkok Thailand to start a new phase of our lives.

I have a good view of our greeeeen backyard from my studio but reading Mary Ann reminded me of this. Shimmering Los Angeles with a little Jim Morrison playing in the background...
