Darn! Two Days Early

Back in March of 2009, we were on a trip to the SE area of England. Canterbury and the environs of Kent. It gave my dh a chance to experience what I had meant when I said that in the years I lived in the North of England, I might go out for a day and only cover 5-10 miles. There was so much to see and so many lanes and hedgerows and cemeteries with graves to examine and by then it would be time for lunch or at least tea.

I had never driven in this corner of England and despite the short days, the damp and the fog, we made a go of it. He minded the damp chill much more than I did but then I had learned the necessity of layers decades ago. But back to the fish...no we didn't get any. We saw this sign on a Wednesday. Our loss.

Flashback Friday

Ann paints a lot more of our house yellow. I was so happy to see more of the house brightened.

When You Clean Up...

When you clean up your hard drive, it's always good to pitch items that are no longer useful. Maybe the ones that you know you won't use any time soon can go off onto an EHD which has loads of space - so far. Then there are the hordes of photos that elicit deep sighs, wondering if they will ever get scrapped or printed but knowing it won't be in 2010 most likely.

Here's one I remember fondly...taking the Oxford Express up the A40 from London in February 2009. Yes, it was a dreary day that turned out to be pretty cold, foggy and all over VERY much an English winter as I remembered them. Not quite two years ago yet and a trip to be repeated for his birthday next year.

Hope your day is sunnier today!

Word for 2009

I had been thinking of a word for this year, and I found a wooden sign in a craft store that seemed perfect for someone I know.

The longer I had it, the more I felt it really was for me. Funny how that is.... So my word for 2009 is

RELAX

Many thanks to Ali Edwards for sharing this idea. It might not have been her original idea but as I found it on her blog, it's hers in my mind. Thanks Ali!

Goodbye 2008

I have a friend who is always optimistic despite a lot of fairly serious events in his life. He said he kept saying Everything's Great in 2008 a lot to help get him thru a couple of these daunting times. It worked for him and so next year his phrase is It's all fine in 2009.

Looking at the positive is always a good option even if it seems hard to do. I always feel if you're above ground, it's a good day!

To a Fine 2009 for you and me and a farewell to December NABLOPOMO.
