Flashback Friday: Bathing Suit Season's Coming

These two women certainly are ready for bathing suit season! Betty and Aunt Ruby are in California and I'll guess this is the late 40s to the 50s.  Thanks again to Sassyarts from the Flickr group Collage Images for this great shot of family members.

Flashback Friday

When I decided to go back to school to complete my BA, I had a psych class with these women. We really formed a bond with our teacher Barry, and he was very encouraging to us as 'non-traditional' students.

Dinner with Barry

How about those hairdos and clothes...

Depth beyond Beauty

I first read about Maryam's life in Marrakesh and thought ahh....so magical. But when any one of us takes time to really read a blog, there is often a depth to the writer that reaches right to one's core. Yes, Maryam and her family are creating that fairy-tale like guesthouse in Morocco but read her posts on her work in Rwanda and see another side of her life.

I remember reading long ago that hate was a void and a void could not be fought. A void could only be filled. The void of hate could only be filled with love.

Love...the healer.

36 Million Women

Now that's a number to be reckoned with isn't it? Do you know what that # refers to???

36 million women who blog and read blogs worldwide

If you're reading this, you are one of those women according to the BBC story about Blogher. The bulk of the story discusses paid ads on your site but that stat just astounded me. Astounded me and inspired me...with hope for us who inhabit Mother Earth.

Made me think of Jean Shinoda Bolen's book The Millionth Circle. Come on tipping point, come on soon.

Think of your own blogroll as your own circle, and look at how many of our circles intersect, and lap over each others'. "When a critical number of people change how they think and behave, the culture will also, and a new era begins." Blog on!!
