AAM Monday: Project Life Week 21

Another week done, the week of the USNA graduation which to those of us who live here really means the stunning Blue Angels flying over our houses, shaking our houses and reminding us of the terror those sounds can inflict on those being bombed. It's the way of war and it's a sobering thought to me every year. As it should be.

Oh yes, it was also the week of such strong rains that our downstairs drain backed up. Fortunately, it was more like the compost one buys rather than sewage. VERY fortunately. The pipes still do need a good clean out, which god willing, will be soon.

Found some fascinating old photos on line. This one is of Plymouth England during WWII or perhaps post WWII. Amazing to think how life has to go on amidst the bombings and destruction of war. Not so much different than today, is it? Just in other countries, other locations...

Memorial Day Memory

My father's Army unit in WWII. Not sure whether they had arrived in Europe or were still in the US. My father is top row center, the tallest man in the unit. Ahead of them was the Battle of the Bulge and a freezing cold winter. My father came home but was not the man who went to war at 23.
