TBT: Things I Need To Throw Away

I'll have to ask my dh wha year it was that we drove to Park City Utah. Now that is quite a drive from Maryland but I'd never been in some of the states along the way and was working to complete my 'seen every state' check off.  Nebraska was one of those states. It was all I imagined it to be - flat with a LOT of corn. A lot. Corn so high you couldn't see anything along the Interstate but corn. There were also tornado warnings. The idea of a return was not likely to happen.

One good thing was our stop at The Steak House in Lincoln. The name said it all and was right to the point. Sadly, I have no image of the steaks we had but they were big and damn delicious. I do believe it may be time to let this matchbook leave my possession. (I now know this trip was in 2007. It's definitely time.)

In a sad footnote, the restaurant closed in 2014. Story here.

Five on Friday: July 11, 2014

1. Ola, Ole...well kind of. I have watched more of this World Cup than an other in my lifetime, and as much as my heart went out to Brazil, it was the kind of game I hope I never see again. I won't be able to see them play the Dutch tomorrow, and I do pray that they can score at least one goal and not be humiliated twice.

2. My 8 boxes are emptied but I now need to put a lot of the saved stuff in other places. Much of it is sorted into a folder for each child etc and even that feels good. I'm not saying I'm ready to die yet but at least a whole lotta paperwork has been dealt with and this trash can has been emptied many, many times.

3. Between clearing out that stuff and watching the World Cup, not a lot else has happened round here. Oh yes, water aerobics. I like it. I do!

4. With the idea of getting through all the episodes of the 'new' Dr. Who series, I've been watching two a  night when I could, and omg the closer of Series 2, Doomsday, was a heartbreaker.I fell in love with David Tennant in earlier work, but oh in this one....sigh.

5.  Today I'm going on retreat for the weekend and then taking a week of blog break.  I hope you have lots of good things planned or maybe a great week of NOTHING planned. Some of those are the best kind! See you later!

Behold

I loved making this yesterday from a PSE brush I made from a piece of trash I found outside. Amazing that I'd find an Italian legal document on my sidewalk. It was already aged, and so I made the brush from the stamps/seals on the sheet. I am quite impressed with myself! Once I had the little Italian seal the rest sort of came together quickly in my head. I also love that da Vinci brush, which is an online freebie. Fun fun.

Trash, trash, do we have trash!

Sunday was a big clean out the cellar day, and tho it rained off and on, it wasn't hot - yet. If it had been humid and hot, I have a feeling less might have been done.

Waiting for Bulk Trash

Unfortunately, this cr*p has to sit in the driveway until next week when we have the quarterly bulk trash pickup. But better out there than still in the cellar. Without help, the two of might have killed ourselves trying to do it - or killed each other. About 1/4 of the original pile has already been taken away, and there was a carload for the thrift shop. Phew.
Progress!
