TBT: England Summer 1972

Every time I think I have found all the photos that need sorting AND scanning I find more...aaargh. But this one tickled me as I'd forgotten just how large our side yard was in England. We were down at the bottom of the Close and had a much larger yard than many of the other houses. Nice, except when it was grass cutting time! Fortunately, not my job! lol

Travel Wit Me Tuesday: A Stop in Knaresborough

December 8, 2016 our driver picked us up in Harrogate for a day in York. I had said I wanted to stop at #7 Crestholme Close but as we drove through Knaresborough, I decided that it was the only stop I wanted. I might have enjoyed a day walking around the town but just not that day. I was still tired and York would be enough for a down memory lane day. However, this was the stop I wanted.

It was a long time since I had actually stood on this spot. This house was built in 1968 and we moved in probably in late September or early October of that year. We stayed until summer of 1975 when we left England. A long time for us, though we didn't know how full of moves our future would be.

TBT Knaresborough Before My Time

I suspect this image of the River Nid and the ever present boaters may have been taken in the 1950s. We moved there in 1968 and most postcards were  in color (colour) then.

World Blog Day...part 2

Oh this is sort of ...down memory lane for me again. I continued to click some English sounding names on the Knitting Place and came to Felting in Fibrespace. But this one was a fun new one to me, and also triggered memories from the alpha end of my years outside the US.

#1. I have to love how clever we bloggers are with names.

#2. She has classes in the village where I lived in England. I was there 7 years and did a bunch of sewing then but never had an interest in knitting or any other needle arts. I did subscribe to the Golden Hands (?) series tho mostly for looking at, dreaming of what I could(!) do. I think the most I did from those magazines were some aprons including the crack-the-needle oilcloth sewing of aprons. I did make some smashing clothes tho, and wish to heaven I had a picture of the wool floor length plaid (maternity!) dress I made.

Here is where I lived...and Beth...you brought back memories.

# 7 Crestholme

That Aran sweater (jumper) on my ds was made by my mother from wool I purchased for her in Knaresborough. 1970
