Travel With Me Tuesday: Hilton Head 2015

The final days at Hilton Head got a more artsy treatment. I haven't done that for a while and I've missed it but I have to be in the right mood. With a visit last week from my #2 son and his girlfriend, I some how got that kind of mojo spirit. A good visit with different people and their energy in the house was just what I needed.

AAM Sunday: Project Life 13 Week 47 (belated)

Sometimes you realize you had half a post done but never quite finished it...That was  this one. Better late than never. LOL So this is a Monday post on a Sunday. Blogger's prerogative. :-)

Week 47 was mostly about our week in Hilton Head. This was the week I realized I had not uploaded the PSE11 software after uninstalling the PSE10. In other words, no scrapping got done and a lot of books were read as well as a lot of Netflix was watched.  We didn't make as many trips as we often did bypassing Savannah and Charleston on this trip. Very relaxing for both of us.

Five on Friday: November 22, 2013

It's Friday and I have 5 for you.

1. Yes, I'm old enough to remember Kennedy's assassination. I was in college but my ride didn't come and pick me up so I was home for the day. The tv was on because my Nana always liked it on. When the news came on, I recall looking at myself in the mirror in our living room. Was it to see if I believed it? was it to see if I had changed? I don't know but I recall doing that vividly. I also recall that I had a powder blue pleated skirt on. How strange memory is.

2. Today is my last day of vacation and it promises to be a warm - 70ish - humid day. The a/c went on by 7:15 and I doubt it will go off while I'm still here. Beaches are nice; humidity is not.

3. I have done very little cooking on this trip. Just happened that way.

4. While wandering around this island I went to Walmart for some boiled peanuts and found some Christmas ornaments for my grandson's family. Nice to find things associated with his college that were just $2. I'm wise about that because the purple of his high school is no longer in favor so I'll give the college colors a full year before splurging.

5. Pine cones. I have two plastic bags full. These are very fresh and I suspect will last a good while up north. They're way too pretty to spray gold or silver so the old ones may be the ones I decorate!

Beach Time Glorious Beachtime

I consider one of the best vacation to be one where I can see and hear the ocean...all the time. I don't want to swim, I don't want to sit on the beach, I don't want to 'work on my tan'...I just want to see that endless water, and hear the repetitive ebb and flow and crash of the waves. Sight and sound mixed together in a delight to the senses. 

Sometimes, it just wears you out!

Actually, he has been taking a lot of bicycle rides, and truly deserved a bit of a laydown.

Goodbye my friend

It's been a wonderful week hanging out with you. Well, you and the turtle couple. I hope they are doing well since I only saw Mr. or was it Mrs. Turtle today. I hate to have to leave you and your beautiful home here on Hilton Head, but I must. My real life isn't any too bad either so I won't complain. I hope to see you next year, same time, same place. Adieu!

Hello Hilton Head

Saturday we took off to spend time in the warm sun at Hilton Head. We made an easy drive to Wilson NC which was our final destination of the day. Why only Wilson??? Barbeque, but not just any barbeque, the tangy pulled pork of Bill Ellis . Oh that is some good eating. After a full, and I do mean full dinner, we went wild and headed over to WalMart for some shopping. If that doesn't make a night, well I don't know what does!


















In hindsight,we realized we could have driven further, as we found the drive today so tiring we decided to take a pass on Charleston and just have lunch at Santee SC. We had good meals at Clarks but then, oh, that endless I-95. Booooring. The traffic was ok, but it seemed endless. At least it wasn't summertime or hot so all in all we were just car weary when we arrived.

















A quick check into our villa, and out to take a walk on the ocean. I had never found a sand dollar and today they were plentiful. It was a good walk with a good breeze and we came back and both took naps! No dinner for me tonight and just a small sandwich for him. That tells you that Bill Ellis' "done" filled us up. I was glad I'd hit the little Fairfield Inn gym both on Saturday and early this am. It helped but an early night will help even more. Sorry Oscar, I have to turn you down tonight. I have a date with the sandman.

Playing with Iphoto

There are a lot of things I COULD have done today, including making more of an attempt to get the Christmas things down. However...one day of fun at home, and I'll get to that tomorrow.

As I was uploading the Hilton Head trip photos onto my computer, I saw an article in MacWorld about slide shows, and off to the races I went. I had no idea there was the card/postcard feature that allows you to make title pages to insert in a slide show. I finally stopped short of burning a dvd - mostly because that involved going downstairs to GET a dvd. I usually find if I leave the computer, I get waylaid by something that needs doing downstairs. That something is usually a lot less interesting than what I'm doing on the computer - imho.

Here are some of the pics I used as the front of the postcard when making titles. Incidentally, all the pictures are from my Iphone as I was having battery issues with my camera, yet again.

btw, I will probably never try to lay the pictures out like this again!! Next time a template. Live and learn. DH wants me to do the DVD but the old girl only has so much energy and eyesight in a day!

Warm Balmy Breezes

Greetings from Hilton Head South Carolina.

I knew dh was about due for some bicycling and so we made plans for a post Christmas trip to the beach and a beach far enough south to have some warm weather. At least we had hopes!

It was a long tiresome drive on the stretches of I-95 we drove on the 26th

but after a night in Wilson NC and some darn good barbeque, we took the side roads and the temperatures rose. By the time we had lunch in SC it was in the 70s. I joked that we needed the a/c on but I just took my sweater vest off and put the faux Uggs in the back seat.

I have a bunch of barbeque pictures to upload but will post this now - gotta get those daily posts in for NABLOPOMO!
