AAM Monday - 365 week 4

Bit by bit I'm really getting my supplies into Lightroom, and still really liking the process. One day, however, I will have to address the issue of .png files. Just not this week.

Week 4 done and wrapped up.  Are you doing any form of this project? I'd love to see if you give me a link.

I'm liking the two pager spread with one full pager. I think I'll keep it but you never know. There are NO Rules! Isn't that great?

AAM Project 365 Week 3

Week three was a quiet week for the most part. My dh was in Florida with his bicycle and I was able to take the time to do some big clean out in the pantry and in my studio.  Lots of paperwork hit the recycling bin which is a very good feeling.

Today, I have some volunteer work to sort out - including a phone call I'd rather not be making - and then a lovely JinShinJyutsu session with a friend and a good catch up 'chinwag' as the Australians say.

Week 4 ahead is looking pretty good, I'd say. Hope you are enjoying the holiday if you're here in the US.  Thank god our political processes are fairly bloodless. Would that it were true for the rest of the world.

AAM - 365 wk 2

I am so not a pink person, but somehow this week seemed sweeter to me than usual. Maybe it's the Hot Pink on my shoes. That would never have been my choice of colors but my heel needed the support this shoe gives and it Really Feels Good.  In any case, pink it was for week two of this year.

I think I'm going to stick with the one big one and one full of weekly shots for the month of  January. Not sure what the rest of the year will bring, but that's true for everything in life, isn't it!!

Did you decide to do a project like this in 2013? I'd be interested in hearing about the format you chose.

A Week at at Time

I waffled so much about what format to use for the weekly scrapbook pages this year. Last year, it evolved into a Project Life format; the 2011 book was 365 layouts with lots more variation.  I think PL would work really well if it was being done in a paper or hybrid version, but I got sick of trying to coordinate the page and add enough elements to make it 'pretty' or at least enjoyable to create. With two adults in the house, there certainly aren't cute little sayings each day. Not with an introverted engineer as half of that couple. Perhaps I should record some of my own brilliant thoughts on journal cards!

So this year has started out as the 365 version. 2 pages each week, and I'm hoping I'll have a good photo that represents the way the week felt. Since we hadn't done a great deal of Christmas decorating,  I wanted to keep that feel of moving into an undecorated home in January.  I realized how much I missed doing a December Daily. Next year!

Oh, those snowflakes fluttering down the page?  All wishful thinking. No snow, and really not very much cold weather either.  I have no desire to go to WVA to see snow, thank you, but maybe in Boston? I think there's hope for that in February.

AAM Monday

Just a quick one today. No scrapping done on our trip but a zillion images to go through. I think I'm going to put this trip on the back burner for a while. I have neither the energy nor the enthusiasm to revisit yet.

I did manage to get the final week before the trip done...the hectic pre-departure time. It's kind of a million years away now. But there were some big things that went on that week - early voting and Hurricane Sandy. Yep, it was a week.

AAM: Project Life Weeks 29 & 30

Sometimes, when it seems that I don't think I have many photos, or much to put into a weekly page,  I'm pleasantly surprised.

  • There are some photos
  • There are book images to get on line
  • There are images of tv shows I've been glued to (ty Netflix)
  • There is a record of where we've been on our iCals
  • There is the day in day out bits of journaling on DayOne
It's all good and most weeks I'm surprised that I do have so much to put on a page. When it flows that easily, I'm even inclined to look for some bits and bobs in my stash to 'tart it up'! Not a lot. I'll never be the Queen of Embellishments and that's fine. Using patterned paper is a big departure for me!

Can you believe it? We're on the downward slope for Project Life 2012?  Only 22 more weeks!  It really has been fun so far. I guess I'm hooked.

AAM Project Life Week 28

Week 28 wasn't the most upbeat week because 4 days involved a lot of waiting - waiting for this, waiting for that, waiting waiting waiting to find out if I had a heart issue or not. Fortunately, I was tired enough in the hospital from the lack of sleep each night to be willing to wait. In the end, the news was good, and that in itself was reassuring. It WAS worth the wait.

AAM The Weeks That Were

Getting up to date with the 365/366/Project Life isn't bad when there are
  1. Photos
  2. Journaling Bits via DayOne
  3. iCal calendars - between the two of us we have 5 calendars
  4. Tweets
  5. Goodreads to remind me what I read
  6. Netflix to remind me what I watched

Week 23 had a neutral mood so I went with the more subdued tones. Once in a while that's good.

Week 24 was a lot about food and gardens. That's typical for the season when the Farmers' Markets become part of my life.

Week 24 was also done when Designer Digitals had a color challenge that I liked so the citrusy colors were used for this week and the following one.

Week 25 was my week for the annual dog-sitting for my family while they go to Myrtle Beach. Better them than me at the beach at this time of year. My dh and I wait til the cooler weather of autumn for our jaunts down.

How's your Project Life or 365 or Memory Keeping doing? Do you realize the year is half over? It's never to late to jump on in and have a wonderful memory of the days.  Seriously!

365 - Catchin' Up via Project Life

The Italy pages are still undone, as I  realized it was just getting to hard for me to scrap on my 13" Macbook, and dh has taken back the 17" MBP.  So those will have to wait their turn.  I've lost my strong interest in doing them right now and I never want to do such things out of obligation. If my hobby isn't joy, I put it aside for a bit.

However, the 365/Project Life is simpler or at least it is for me. Some people go all out with lists of 40 or more embellishments per page, but "it ain't me".  I like mine pretty but easy to do.

So here is week...now what week was it...oh yeah, week 22.

365/Project Life 12 week 19

I am truly going on my own way with this yearly project. Some days get a full layout, some days get jammed into a week's layout, and some weeks are a bit condensed.

Week 19 saw us going to the beach for a convention/retreat and then coming home to get ready for the trip to Italy.

I LOVED the combo of teals on Katie Pertiet's papers. (hint! these are free ones!) They blend very nicely with the butterflies on the Pocket Page template.  Serendipity when that happens! I could let you think that I seriously planned it all down to the most minute detail, but alas...I'm not quite that perfectionist. I love seeing other people who have ten zillion elements on their page but a template like this has more than enough for me. I can add a few more things on my own and be very very content.

Because that Italy trip covers weeks 20 and 21, I'm forging on with Week 22 next so in my own mind, I'm caught up. Trips take many more pages and Italy will be one of those! Are you still doing a 365 or Project Life? Remember, there are NO rules! If you skip weeks, you skip weeks. Anything you do is better than nothing done. Seriously...but be sure to have fun!

AAM - or The Week That Was

I greatly enjoyed doing 365 last year and did manage to get all my weeks done In The Same Year! I have some weeks from this year that aren't done but those are the weeks of trips early in the year when the scrapping time later was totally lost. Things are as they are so they will get done, in time. But I decided I wanted to try some more iPhone apps and really like the pictures I get from Notica.

I didn't notice that the dates didn't match at the top and the bottom of the photo cards but I ignored that and just used them as square photos. The notes did help me to get a bit of annotation on each photo so it all worked out in the end. I'll have to do some more practice with this and see what gives.

Are you doing 365(6) or Project Life this year? How's it going for you now? Some times simplify is what's needed to get back into the swing.

AAM Monday: 365 Wk 6 Starting Closure

This was a week without a lot of photos. It was a week of getting myself back on track, visiting long term friends who know both me and the ongoing relationship with my daughter. Besides being just plain good women, they are both divinity school graduates. A lot of wisdom, but the same basic advice. Let it all go, let her go, and live your own life. What other people think of me or say of me is none of my business.

Compassion for what is and detachment.

Flashback Friday - Blank Refusal

I would prefer not to remember this week but I'm so glad I got some photos that captured the mood that  I saw.

Day after day you sat and shoved food away. You would just sit and stare at the table or into space. You insisted you wanted to take part in your cancer treatment but you actions spoke volumes. Sometimes you asked for drink after drink but refused to take them once they were made.

It was after your brother’s visit when you said you would not eat for me as you did for him that I realized you had made a decision.
You chose.

Last week

Not a great week, and I still cannot see the weekend story clearly.

365 week 3, oh what a week it was

I hope I never have to have a week like this one again. Actually, a lot of it was concentrated in 4 days. I never wanted to be a nurse, or doctor or be involved in the medical profession in any way. I'm so glad that there are people who do though. I sure saw a lot of them during this week.

A bit of scrapping - 366 style

Travel is a lot of fun, but I do miss having the regular routine of home. I also miss the time I have at home to do scrapping. It's a form of creativity I enjoy and it takes me to another realm. I learned once that most activities that involve two hands are soothing to the brain. Both sides of the brain are engaged and it's hard to stress or worry when you're creating in some way.

Last year I took on the 365 project, taking a picture every day. I like making a weekly scrapbook page with varying amounts of journaling.  2011 was my first year, and I decided to do it again. What about you? Are you in for this year? The 366 year???

Thursday 365 Catch Up

Finally got back to the 365 pages. December has been quite a month but all is well that ends well, isn't it.

Only two more layouts and the 2011 album will be done. I'm so glad that I have been able to keep up with it and not have it lingering on into 2012.  There are some pages to do from the New Orleans trip but that's ok. They will just get stuck into the proper section once I do them. They are next on the list!

How's your 365 or 52 or Project life coming along???

365 keeps on Keeping On

I had never done the 365 project, and wondered how long I would do it or be able to stick to it.  Well, I've surprised myself by hanging in there.  Here is week 32, which means that there are only 20 weeks left in this year's 365. I haven't made any decision now about next year. I mean it's August! I see no reason to think about what I will or won't do then. What I can say is that I'm still enjoying it and that's all that matters to me right now.

btw, I am loving this background paper from Lynn Grieveson over at Designer Digitals. It's called  Hansel. I don't usually buy kits but this one won me over!

365 Week 22

I have decided to skip the 365 weeks when we have been on trips. The photos of those weeks will go in vacation layouts. The vacation layouts will go right into my D ring album along with the occasional long journaler as well as some 4x6 prints with journaling cards. I hope to do some of that for a recent Pacific North West trip. But week 22 still had England on my mind so and Canada IS a close relation.

This page also gave me a chance to try out, yet again, using a gradient mask for that background paper. I'll have to practice on some pages again and see what else I can do with it. Work on the diagonal?

365 Week 17 and 18

These are the weeks before we went to England, so I decided to stretch the US part into 2 pages. Now England can be on its own. I've decided that I am just going to put the UK layouts right into the same book or album. Simplify, simplify, simplify. That way I don't have that 20 page Shutterfly requirement hanging over my head. All in all my 365 is really becoming more like Project Life which is nice since that's evolution.

Of course, all this week was leading up to the Friday and the Royal Wedding. I know that wasn't the case for many people, including my dh who couldn't care less, but I lived in the UK for seven years and visited many times after that. Fortunately for me, my dh was away that day and for the rest of the weekend.  The 'telly' was on for a lot of that time!

More shots of the television, and not all that bad considering they were done with my iPhone. Then it was pack the clothes and get ready to GO to England on Sunday. btw, we had our trip planned before the wedding was announced and were grateful to be going later rather than during.
