One day I may have a colorful blog background, but that may be the day I stop blogging. Too much clutter for the eyes. So the leaves on the blog left just as the leaves fell down while we were away. There were more leaves than we had trashcans for. Now it's raining. Hopefully, we'll be able to get the last batch in next week's yard waste.
But hello clean-ish background again. Easier on these eyes I have to say.

Things Making Me Happy
Since I've been in a bit of a funk, I decided to think of the little things that are making me happy. I suspect someone has a meme about this but I haven't taken the time to blog-surf lately so tell me if you know of someone. I think I need to practice this publicly. The concept of publicly acknowledging the joy in my life reminds me of Flylady's concept of blessing your house as you do a Sunday night cleanup. I've always avoided cleaning on Sunday but that puts a different perspective on it, doesn't it?
- A clean floor on the ground floor. (DH washed this Friday night pre guests.) I told him that is one thing that makes me feel really good but darn I hate to do it.
- Bacon and horseradish cream cheese. I'd never had this and bought some Friday. It's half gone now...
- Having 3, well 4 actually, Redbox locations in under 3 miles from my house, even if the movie I wanted to watch isn't available at any of them each time I've checked since Saturday a.m.
- The teeny daffodils that have made their annual appearance amidst the dark green ivy and pachysandra of the small front lawn. I had totally forgotten about them.
- 5 totally free weekdays this week - no tutoring, no appointments of any kind, just free free time and at least one day when I have the house to myself.

Phew!
Well the bulk of the Christmas putaway is done. (Thank you Flylady for the inspiration.) The dishes had been out on the kitchen island since Christmas Day but since we left for SC on the 26th, it didn't happen! But now they are packed and just waiting for a couple of dishtowels to dry. I know I tend to find additional Christmas things lurking about.

Then Dick took the White House ornaments down as he is tall enough to reach them w/o a chair or ladder. He is very careful about how his boxes are stored! tho they are not in chronological order as he had previously. I'm just glad they get up AND down.

What I expected to take a Long Time only took 30 minutes, with no ornament broken. They are now on the dining room table waiting to go into ziplock bags that I started back in the 80s. This tree needed so much fewer decorations that I have a full storage box of ones that didn't make the cut this year.

Then we have the Initials that a few family members forgot to take this year, and considering that one boyfriend is already history....these may become donations.

The donation pile is already started. (I loved that feather wreath the year I bought it, but now I wonder about my taste!)

So adios Christmas, I'll see you in 11+months! My serenity is returning.

When I Win the Lottery
I'll have a big clean house decorated for me by Darryl Carter.

If he can do it for his parents, he'd be able to do it for me, right? Oh but did I mention I never play the Lottery? I guess I'll just have to look at his designs and think Clean, Clean, Clean especially Post Christmas. Right now I'll be happy with my yellow, red and green.
A woman can ertainly dream tho. Wonder if he'll get a crack at the White House???
