So many things could go here...obviously family, spouse, children, grandchildren, and all the people who are in my 'family by choice.' And then there's stuff like my Mac, the brick driveway, the smell of peaches ripening in the house etc etc
But right now, what would make me happy is the same thing that had lightened my eyes and my heart before.
A phone call from my son saying....Hi Mom. I'm home.
And then I will know, once again, that he is back with his wife and children, and no longer doing his job ....out there, 'in harm's way'.
Lots more happiness links can be found on over at Angela's blog. Thanks go to One Little Acorn's Jacinta for this week's theme.
footnote: I am expecting that call to come somewhere in mid-late August. Trying not to count the days.

It must be so hard waiting for that to happen. I hope that phone call comes soon for you and all the others waiting for it.
All these things are great, I agree. Knowing your family is safe and happy too? That's true happiness! Hope you don't have to wait long to hear his voice saying those words to you.
Also hoping the phone call comes soon!
I too am hoping for the happiest phone call for you.
This post really struck a chord with me. I hope the happy phone call comes soon and fills your heart with pure joy.
Hi Maureen - I really like your blog!
And I am an Obama fan too! Go, go, go!! Let's hope there is a big change in November!
It must be SO HARD not to count the days until that call... my "mother's heart" aches for you. Hope you hear his voice very soon.
Thank you for kind words on my blog.
I think my mum knows exactly how you feel, being the mother of a son who was in the Israeli army. Everytime the phone rang, we expected bad news and my heart would leap. It's such a strong reflex that to this day my heart jumps a little when I hear the phone ring, even though my brother is now safe and sound. My heart goes out to you, I hope all ends up well.
Yes, a joyous experience to get that call. Each day is a day closer. Many ((((hugs))))
it will happen sooner or later...that would be a very happy day for you all - big hugs to you!!
I hope you hear his voice soon - that will be a happy day for sure.
That would indeed make one very happy! I couldn't begin to know how that feels so my heart goes out to you and your son.
Great post.
